Please let us know how the SRT treatment worked for you and how it has changed your life.
I met Michael at a health fair a couple months ago. I was barely walking with a cane and in so much pain I had tears streaming down my face. I was awaiting hip surgery and I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, herniated disc and several other painful ailments. I have lived with chronic pain for over 18 years that effected every movement I made. After my first treatment, I walked out of his office without a limp and almost no pain!
I have been continuing treatments and I cannot even express how this has changed my life. I have my life back! I can move, sleep, jog up and down stairs, hike, ride my horse and a multitude of other things I had just accepted that I would no longer be able to do. I have cancelled the hip surgery and stopped taking pain medications. Michael is extremely caring and understanding. He walks you through the process and helps with the emotional recovery as well. Pain does not just affect the body. It is damaging to the mind and spirit as well. I truly cannot thank him enough.

I have played rugby for 11 years and am no stranger to extreme injuries. After playing rugby professionally for a year, I walked with acute pain in my pelvis and hips for close to a year. I saw several orthopedic surgeons, but none of them could pin point the root of my pain. I went to PT 2-3x a week, and while the treatment helped relieve some of my pain, it didn't address the origin of the symptoms either. Eventually, my PT suggested I try PSOAS. I called them, they asked me a few quick questions about the nature of my impediment and recommended that I see Michael Ward.
Let me just say that to me, Michael Ward is nothing short of a miracle worker. After a long, painful session, I walked away with minimal pain. I continued to see Michael 2-3 times a month for a few months.
Michael Ward is the best. Without him I'd be crippled and crying in a corner. Go see him!! Jaclyn C
Having worked with Michael Ward on my low back problems for a few months, they are substantially reduced - primarily due to deep tissue work on the legs, and Michael has been very helpful in making sure I know the right stretches and techniques to keep my problems from flaring up. I strongly recommend Psoas (Michael Ward) to anyone with chronic pain and a motivation to solve the underlying problems.
I hurt my lower back in Maui a few days prior to going to Psoas. When I went into Psoas I could barely walk and when I left, I was able to comfortably walk out on my own. I went back for one more session with Michael W. just to make sure everything was working properly on both sides. I feel great. Michael really knows what he is doing. He knew exactly where to target to relieve my pain and discomfort. I would definitely go back and I would definitely recommend Michael W! He's a miracle worker!
Michael is amazing. I kind of don't want to Yelp about him because then I might not be able to get in. But you deserve to see him. Since fixing my shoulder in one appointment, I have also seen Michael for craniosacral work and full-body massage. He's worked on my neck, jaw, and hips and gives me both stretches and breathing exercises to work on. The best part is that the results LAST. After trying a multitude of things to ease my clenched jaw and headaches (including Botox), I had ten days without pain. Ten days without even a Tylenol - that was huge. I have no doubt that continued sessions will result in longer stretches without pain. Also, I like Michael because unlike every other massage therapist I have ever seen, he doesn't make me feel badly for liking coffee and wine. If your body hurts, and it probably does because you are reading this on Yelp, you should go see Michael like NOW.
Psoas Massage & Bodywork really is a huge part of my wellness routine. Having been recommended there by my trainer, I was set up with Michael Ward to help me with some continual knee/leg/hip issues post Total Knee Replacement. Michael has an amazing diagnostic process and a highly effective bodywork technique. He provided me huge relief almost immediately and continues to work with me as I work on adding more exercise and functionality back into my life. He always asks me what I think we should focus on, but he always has an idea ready as well.
You wouldn't like me when I can't work out. Yoga, climbing, weights, running, swimming, sometimes twice a day, keeps me happy. Unfortunately, my body can't always handle it..., without Psoas.
I've shown up completely unable to sit up/lie down due to a pulled muscle in my back (having to take a cab because I couldn't even turn my head) and after two sessions with Michael Ward, walked out with full range of motion. My hips and QL muscle were so tight that I couldn't rock my yoga, until Michael (aka the "rib whisperer") figured out that it was a misalignment in my ribs that was causing the tightness. Same thing with a tricky knee problem- two or three sessions with Michael and I was back in action. All thanks to Michael. Seriously, this guy can work magic!
A few words of advice:
1. It took you a while to cause the injury, so it may take a few sessions to fix it.
2. You may be sore and/or in some pain the next day. Deep tissue, etc. does cause soreness. Give it a few days and you will feel better than before.
3. During your treatment, tell your therapist where you are feeling referred pain (i.e., if they are working on your neck and you feel it in your fingers), it helps him/her figure out what is causing the problem. Also, if the pressure/pain is too intense- speak up. It will hurt sometimes, but the pain should be at a 7, not a 10.
4. This is far more effective (and less expensive) than any "spa" massage. And, if you want a relaxation massage because you're not in pain, they can do that, too, and it's way better than the spa, in terms of quality of work.
5. Sometimes, you have to try different therapists. The first woman who worked on my knee couldn't seem to help, so she suggested I try some of her colleagues, which is how I found Michael.
6. This is not in my best interest at all, since talking him up will make him hard to book, but go to Michael Ward. He listens to what you are saying, understand how your body works and is well-versed in a variety of techniques to heal whatever is broken.
I had a back injury in December and have had constant back pain/problems since. Trouble walking, sitting, sleeping, driving... You take your back for granted until something goes wrong. After 1 visit with Michael my problem improved dramatically.
